Why Participate?
At The Early Learning and Cognition Lab, we investigate how young children naturally learn about the world around them. We are currently running a variety of projects examining the mechanisms underlying learning. These include how children think about explanation and causation, analogy and relation, probability, and uncertainty. By participating in our research, you and your children will be making a great contribution to understanding cognitive development in early childhood. Our studies currently focus on children between 17 months and 11 years old, and are designed to be fun and engaging for both you and your child!
Directions
We are located on the fourth floor of McGill Hall on UC San Diego's campus in La Jolla, CA. We offer free parking for families who come in to participate in our studies. A researcher will meet you in our parking lot to bring you up to our lab.
From I-5 South: Take Exit 29 for Genesee Avenue. Turn right off of the exit and continue up Genesee Avenue to the top of the hill. Once at the top, turn left onto North Torrey Pines Road. Next make a left onto La Jolla Shores Drive (~ 1 mile), and then make an immediate left onto Scholars Drive South. Scholars Drive South will turn right and become Muir Lane after a quarter mile. Continue for a short while before turning left into the parking garage (you should see a sign for parking). Make the first right turn, and park in spaces #946 or #947, which are on the left side about halfway down. A researcher will be there to meet you!
From I-5 North: Take Exit 28B for La Jolla Village Drive. Turn left at La Jolla Village Drive. You will pass the main entrance to campus. The road will bend to the north and become N. Torrey Pines Rd. Continue on N. Torrey Pines Rd. until you come to a light at La Jolla Shores Drive. Turn right onto La Jolla Shores Drive, then make an immediate left onto Scholars Drive South. Scholars Drive South will turn right and become Muir Lane after a quarter mile. Continue for a short while before turning left into the parking garage (you should see a sign for parking). Make the first right turn, and park in spaces #946 or #947, which are on the left side about halfway down. A researcher will be there to meet you!
