FAQs
How long does a visit to the ELC Lab take?
In the ELC Lab, we typically work with your child for a short research session, not longer than 20 minutes. If you are participating in an in-person study, your entire visit from the time you arrive until the time you leave should not take longer than 30 minutes. If you are participating in an online study, the Zoom call should take no more than 30 minutes from start to finish and are often much shorter.
How old does my kid have to be in order to participate?
We currently run studies for kids between the ages of 0 and 12 years.
What does a visit with the ELC Lab entail?
Our research studies are structured as fun games (i.e. playing with blocks, hearing stories, watching videos, answering questions), and your child will receive a small prize for participating. Online participants will receive an Amazon gift card in thanks for their participation.
Do I get to see the results of my child's participation?
We do not share the individual results of each child -- instead, we average all of the (anonymized) responses of children in our studies, and report these combined data in scientific papers. However, if you are interested in learning more about how your child’s responses relate to our study’s goals and predictions, the experimenter will be happy to share these details at the end of the study.
